The Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1992

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 13(2), as read with section 195(1), of the Road Traffic Act 1988[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of the said Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation, commencement and extent
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 3rd April 1992.

        (2)  These Regulations shall extend to Scotland only.
    Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Regulations 1976
        2.    For regulation 7 of the Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Regulations 1976[2] there shall be substituted the following:—
            "7.    The fee to be submitted with an application under regulation 6 shall be a basic fee of £53.00 for the first 50 miles or part thereof increased by £30.00 for each subsequent 50 miles or part thereof of the length of the event on the public highway; provided that if the event is not authorised, or is subsequently cancelled, the fee shall be reduced to £10.00.".
    Revocations
        3.    The Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1983[3] and the Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1987[4] are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) (Scotland) Regulations 1976 so as to increase the fees to be submitted to the Royal Scottish Automobile Club with applications for the authorisation of events.
    The existing and the increased fees are as follows:
    ExistingIncreased
      (a) Route mileage for the first 50 miles or part thereof
    		£40£53
      (b) For each subsequent 50 miles or part thereof
    		£23£30
      (c) Reduction in fee if event is not authorised or is subsequently cancelled
    		£10no change
