The Banking Act 1987 (Exempt Persons) Order 1991

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 4(3) of the Banking Act 1987[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, and after consultation with the Bank of England, hereby order as follows: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Banking Act 1987 (Exempt Persons) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1991. Exemption 2. Schedule 2 to the Banking Act 1987 shall be amended by the addition of the following new entry after the entry numbered "10"- "10A.(1) Keesler Federal Credit Union.
(2) This paragraph applies only to the acceptance of deposits made by members, or dependants of members, of a visiting force of the United States of America, or by members, or dependants of members, of a civilian component of such a force, where "member", "dependant", "visiting force" and "member of a civilian component" have the meanings given to them by the Visiting Forces Act 1952[2].".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)This order adds Keesler Federal Credit Union to the list in Schedule 2 to the Banking Act 1987 of persons exempted from section 3 of that Act (restriction on acceptance of deposits) in respect of deposits made by members of U.S. forces, members of the civilian component of U.S. forces, and their dependants.
