The M6 Motorway: Widening between Junctions 20 and 21A (Thelwall Viaduct) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1990

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16, 17, 19, 106 and 108 of the Highways Act 1980[1], and now vested in him[2], and of all other enabling powers: 1. The Secretary of State is authorised to provide for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980
(a) a special road along the route described in Schedule 1 below (this special road being in this Scheme referred to as "the Motorway"), and
(b) special roads along the routes described in Schedule 2 below for the purposes of connecting the Motorway with other highways at the places stated in that Schedule (these special roads being in this Scheme referred to as "the connecting roads") 2. The centre line of each of the special roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan. 3. The special roads shall become trunk roads on the date when this Scheme comes into operation. 4. The Secretary of State is also authorised to construct
(a) as parts of the Motorway, the bridges specified in schedules 3 and 4 below, and
(b) as part of the M6 Motorway, the bridge specified in Schedule 5 below, and in connection with the construction of those bridges, to divert the parts of the navigable watercourses respectively specified in those schedules in the manner shown therein. 5. In this Scheme
(a) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(b)
(i) "the deposited plan" means the plan numbered HA16/1 CNW 292 marked "The M6 Motorway: Widening between Junctions 20 and 21A (Thelwall Viaduct) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1990", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;
(ii) "the special roads" means the motorway and the connecting roads 6. This Scheme shall come into force on 27th February 1991, and may be cited as the M6 Motorway: Widening between Junctions 20 and 21A (Thelwall Viaduct) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1990.
