The Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (Northern Ireland) Order 1990

    The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 3A(5) of the Fatal Accidents (Northern Ireland) Order 1977[1], hereby makes the following order:—
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (Northern Ireland) Order 1990.

        (2)  This Order shall come into force on 1st April 1991, and shall apply only to causes of action which accrue on or after that date.
        2.    In article 3A(3) of the Fatal Accidents (Northern Ireland) Order 1977, for the figure "£3,500" there shall be substituted the figure "£7,500".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends article 3A(3) of the Fatal Accidents (Northern Ireland) Order 1977 by increasing the sum which may be awarded as damages for bereavement in Northern Ireland from £3,500 to £7,500.
