The London Cab (No. 2) Order 1990

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Metropolitan Public Carriage Act 1869[1], section 1 of the London Cab and Stage Carriage Act 1907[2] and section 1 of the London Cab Act 1968[3], hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and introduction
1. This Order may be cited as the London Cab (No. 2) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 25th October 1990.
2. The London Cab Order 1934[4] shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this Order.
Approved taximeters
3. In paragraph 35 (a) in sub-paragraph (2) the words "Subject to sub-paragraph (4) of this paragraph" shall be omitted; and
(b) sub-paragraph (4) shall be omitted.
Extra charges
4. In paragraph 41(2)(a) after item (iv) there shall be added(v) for any hiring which is arranged by telephone £1.20.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)This Order amends the London Cab Order 1934 ("the 1934 Order") primarily to provide for an extra charge of £1.20 for hirings of motor cabs arranged by telephone. In addition provisions of paragraph 35 (approved taximeters) rendered otiose by the revocation of Schedule E (fares during transitional period) by the London Cab Order 1989, (S.I. 1989/848), have been omitted.
