The Unitary Development Plans (Rotherham) (Appointed Day) Order 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4(1) of the Local Government Act 1985[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Unitary Development Plans (Rotherham) (Appointed Day) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 3rd July 1990.
2. 3rd July 1990 is appointed as the day on which Part I of Schedule 1 to the Local Government Act 1985 shall come into force in the area of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)The Local Government Act 1985 abolished the Greater London Counciland metropolitan county councils. The Act consequently provides for the replacement in their areas of existing structureand local development plans under townand country planning regislation by "unitary development plans". This Order brings the provisions of the 1985 Act relating to unitary development plans into force in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham on 3rd July 1990.
