The New Towns (Defects Grants) (Payments to District Councils) (Extensions of Time) Order 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 172(7)(c) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989[1] and every other power enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order-
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the New Towns (Defects Grants) (Payments to District Councils) (Extensions of Time) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 31st March 1990.
Extensions of time for payments of grants
2. 31st March 1994 is appointed for the purposes of section 172(7)(c) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 in respect of payment of grants under section 51A of the New Towns Act 1981[2] to Easington District Council, and 31st March 1991 is appointed in respect of such payments to Sedgefield District Council and to Stevenage Borough Council.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)This Order defers the date for the termination of payments of grants under section 51A of the New Towns Act 1981 to Easington and Sedgefield District Councils and Stevenage Borough Council. The power of the Secretary of State to make such grants would otherwise cease on 1st April 1990.
