REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS, MARRIAGES, ETC ENGLAND AND WALES
The Community Charges (Notification of Deaths) Regulations 1989

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraphs 1(c) and 9A of Schedule 2 to the Local Government Finance Act 1988 Citation and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Community Charges (Notification of Deaths) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 1st February 1990. Particulars of deaths to be supplied to charging authorities and time for notification 2. Within 7 days of the registration of the death of any person aged 16 or over, the registrar of births and deaths for the sub-district in which the death occurred shall supply to the registration officer (a) the name and surname of the deceased, (b) the date of his birth, (c) the date of his death, (d) his usual address, and (e) the sub-district where the death was registered. Manner of notification 3. The registrar of births and deaths shall supply the particulars specified in regulation 2 of these Regulations either in writing or in a form in which they can be processed by equipment operating automatically in response to instructions given for that purpose. EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)These Regulations:(a) require registrars of births and deaths to supply the community charge registration authorities with details of the deaths of any persons aged 16 or over, and
(b) specify the time for and the manner of such notification.
