The King George's Fund for Sailors (Amendment of Charter) Order 1989

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 19th day of December 1989

Present

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas His late Majesty King George the Fifth by a Royal Charter granted on the1st day of March 1920 (hereinafter referred to as "the Charter") established, by the name of King George's Fund for Sailors, a body corporate (hereinafter referred to as "the Corporation") with the object of contributing to the welfare and furtherance of the objects of Marine Benevolent Institutions:
    And Whereas His late Majesty King George the Sixth by a Supplemental Charter granted on the 16th day of May 1949 (hereinafter referred to as "the Supplemental Charter"), amongst other things, extended the objects of the Corporation:
    And Whereas on the 9th day of October 1989 the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales did, in pursuance of section 18 of the Charities Act 1960[1], make a Scheme relating to the Corporation:
    And Whereas part of the said Scheme cannot come into operation unless or until Her Majesty in Council thinks fit to amend the Charter in such manner as will permit such part of the Scheme to have effect:
    And Whereas the Corporation has accordingly made application to Her Majesty in Council for the amendment of the Charter:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 15(2) of the Charities Act 1960, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
        1.    That the Charter as amended by the Supplemental Charter be further amended as set out in the Schedule to this Order.
        2.    This Order may be cited as the King George's Fund for Sailors (Amendment of Charter) Order 1989.
