The Colyton Grammar School (Designation of Staff) Order 1989

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 75(1)(b)(ii) of the Education Reform Act 1988[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Science hereby makes the following Order: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Colyton Grammar School (Designation of Staff) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 6th September 1989. Designation of staff to be transferred from the Devon local education authority 2. The employee of the Devon local education authority who is named below is hereby designated in relation to Colyton Grammar School for the purposes of section 75 of the Education Reform Act 1988:

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)Section 75 of the Education Reform Act 1988 provides that the contract of employment of any person who is employed by the local education authority to work solely at a school immediately before the school acquires grant-maintained status, shall have effect from the date of acquisition as if made between the employee and the governing body of the grant-maintained school.
If a person is employed by the local education authority to work at the school, but not solely at the school, he is only transferred to the employment of the governing body if so designated by the Secretary of State. This Order designates one member of staff in respect of Colyton Grammar School, which acquires grant-maintained status on 6th September 1989.
