The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1989

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 2(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 18th September 1989.
        2.    Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which, as amended[2], specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended by the insertion in paragraph 1 of Part III of that Schedule-
       (a) after the word "Bromazepam", of the word "Buprenorphine", and
       (b) after the word "Oxazolam", of the word "Pemoline".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order adds to Part III of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which specifies the Class C drugs which are subject to control under the Act) Buprenorphine and Pemoline.
