The Design Right (Reciprocal Protection) (No.  2) Order 1989

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas, it appears to Her Majesty that the laws of the countries mentioned in article 2 of this Order provide adequate protection for British designs:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue of the authority conferred upon Her by section 256(1) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988([2]), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Design Right (Reciprocal Protection) (No.  2) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st August 1989.
        2.    The following countries are hereby designated as enjoying reciprocal protection under Part III of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (design right)—

    Anguilla

    Bermuda

    British Indian Ocean Territory

    British Virgin Islands

    Cayman Islands

    Channel Islands

    Falklands Islands

    Gibraltar

    Hong Kong

    Isle of Man

    Montserrat

    New Zealand

    Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands

    St Helena and Dependencies

    South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands

    Turks and Caicos Islands.
        3.    The Design Right (Reciprocal Protection) Order 1989([2]) is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order designates the countries enjoying reciprocal protection under the provisions of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 relating to design right. It supersedes, and is in the same terms as, the Design Right (Reciprocal Protection) Order 1989, which is revoked before it comes into force.
