The Housing and Planning Act 1986 (Commencement No. 13) Order 1989

Made	9th March 1989

The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 57(2) of the Housing and Planning Act 1986^[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

    1.    This Order may be cited as the Housing and Planning Act 1986 (Commencement No. 13) Order 1989.

    2.    Section 8 (preservation of right to buy on disposal to private sector landlord) of the Housing and Planning Act 1986 shall come into force on 5th April 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings section 8 of the Housing and Planning Act 1986 into force on 5th April 1989. Section 8 provides for the provisions of Part V of the Housing Act 1985 (c. 68) (the right to buy) to continue to apply where a person ceases to be a secure tenant of a dwelling-house because the landlord has disposed of an interest in that dwelling-house in certain circumstances.
