The Price Marking (Petrol) (Amendment) Order 1988

    The Secretary of State, after consulting in accordance with subsection (3) of section 4 of the Prices Act 1974[1] with the organisations therein referred to, in exercise of his powers under the said section 4 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Price Marking (Petrol) (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 23rd January 1989.
        2.    The Price Marking (Petrol) Order 1980[2] is hereby amended—
       (a) in article 4(2), by deleting the words "the premises are price display premises and";
       (b) by the deletion of article 7; and
       (c) in paragraph 14(1) in Part III of the Schedule, by deleting the words "Article 7 or".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order further amends the Price Marking (Petrol) Order 1980, as amended, by removing the requirement that, where petrol is sold by reference to the litre on price display premises, the equivalent price per gallon shall also be indicated on the roadside price display; and by permitting the use of a price equivalent chart at other premises where petrol is sold by the litre as an alternative to marking the gallon equivalent price on the pump.
