The Merchant Shipping Act 1965 (Guernsey) Order 1988

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 6 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1965[1] and section 738(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894[2], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act 1965 (Guernsey) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st January 1989.
        2.    It is hereby directed that sections 1, 3, 7(1) and 8 of, and the entries relating to the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 in Schedule 1 to, the Merchant Shipping Act 1965[3] shall extend to the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the territorial waters adjacent thereto with the exceptions, adaptations and modifications specified in the Schedule to this Order.
        3.    The Merchant Shipping Act 1965 (Guernsey) Order 1969[4] is hereby revoked.

[3] Section 1 was amended by section 91 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1970 (c. 36), by section 31(2) of, Part VI of Schedule 6 to and Part II of Schedule 7 to, the Merchant Shipping Act 1979 (c. 39) and by section 46 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 (c. 48). The relevant entries in Schedule 1 were repealed in part by Part XI of the Schedule to the Statute Law (Repeals) Act 1974 (c. 22) and by Part II of Schedule 7 to the Merchant Shipping Act 1979.
