The European Parliamentary Elections (Day of Election) Order 1988

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 1 to the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1978[1] I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections (Day of Election) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st January 1989.
        2.    A general election of the United Kingdom representatives to the European Parliament shall be held on 15th June 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order appoints 15th June 1989 as the day on which the next general election of United Kingdom representatives to the European Parliament shall be held.

Notes:

[1] 1978 c. 10; the words "European Parliamentary" were substituted for the words "European Assembly" in the provision concerning the citation of this Act and the words "European Parliament" were substituted for the reference to the Assembly of the European Communities in paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 1 to this Act by section 3 of the European Communities (Amendment) Act 1986 (c. 58) on the coming into force of the Single European Act on 1st July 1987.
