REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS, MARRIAGES, ETC.
The Service Departments Registers (Amendment) Order 1988

Present,
The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon Her by sections 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Special Provisions) Act 1957[1] and of all other powers Her enabling, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: 1. The Service Departments Registers Order 1959[2] shall be amended as follows:
(1) In article 1(b) there shall be inserted after the word "deaths" the words "and births";
(2) For article 2(1)(a) there shall be substituted "(a) any person authorised in that behalf by the Defence Council";
(3) In article 2(1)(b) for the words "Admiralty, the Army Council, the Air Council or the Minister of Aviation." there shall be substituted the words "Defence Council."
(4) In article 4(2) for the words "Admiralty, Army Council, Air Council or Minister of Aviation, as may be appropriate," there shall be substituted the words "Defence Council,"
(5) In article 5(3) the word "column" shall be omitted;
(6) For Part II of the Schedule there shall be substituted the words contained in the Schedule to this Order.
2. This Order may be cited as the Service Departments Registers (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st October 1988.
