SAVINGS BANKS
The National Savings Bank (Amendment) Regulations 1988

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 2 and 8(2) of the National Savings Bank Act 1971[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Savings Bank (Amendment) Regulations 1988, and shall come into force on 28th July 1988.
Amendment of principal Regulations
2. The National Savings Bank Regulations 1972[2] shall be amended as follows: (a) in regulation 2(1) the definition of "trustee savings bank" shall be omitted;
(b) regulation 34 is hereby revoked;
(c) in regulation 41(2)(c) the words "(not being stock" to "savings banks)" shall be omitted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)These Regulations amend the National Savings Bank Regulations 1972 by omitting the definition of "trustee savings bank" in regulation 2(1), by revoking regulation 34 and by omitting from regulation 41(2)(c) the reference to stock and securities recorded in the parts of the National Savings Stock Register kept by trustee savings banks.
