The Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Act 1988 (Appointed Day) Order 1988

Made29th June 1988

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4(1) of the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Act 1988[1], and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Act 1988 (Appointed Day) Order 1988.
    Appointed Day
        2.    For the purposes of section 4(1) of the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Act 1988 the date appointed by the Secretary of State is 31st July 1988.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order makes 31st July 1988 the appointed day for the purposes of section 4(1) of the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Act 1988 ("the Act"). On that date, known in the Act as the transfer date, the highway through the Dartford Tunnels and the parts of the tunnel approaches which are not already trunk roads become trunk roads for the purposes of the Highways Act 1980 (c. 66).
