Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 735(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894[1] is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Confirmation of Legislation) (Cayman Islands) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 23rd June 1988. 2. The Merchant Shipping (Applicable Conventions) Law, 1987[2] enacted by the Legislature of the Cayman Islands, as amended by the Merchant Shipping (Applicable Conventions) (Amendment) Law, 1987[3], is hereby confirmed.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)This Order, made under section 735(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894, confirms a Law of 1987 enacted by the Legislature of the Cayman Islands as amended by a further Law of 1987, which provides for the extension to the Cayman Islands of certain maritime safety and anti-pollution conventions.
