The Weights and Measures (Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) (Amendment) Regulations 1988

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 23(1)(a) and 86(1) of the Weights and Measures Act 1985[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st May 1988.
        2.    The Weights and Measures (Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) Regulations 1987[2] are hereby amended as follows:—
       (a) in Regulation 4, paragraph (2) is deleted;
       (b) in Regulation 5, paragraph (2) is deleted; and
       (c) in Regulation 7(3), subparagraph (b) is deleted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Weights and Measures (Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) Regulations 1987 by removing the requirement to include the words"metric pack" in any marking.
