MERCHANT SHIPPING
The Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1988

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 33(2) of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Act 1949[1] and now vested in him[2] and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the approval of the Treasury hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 5th April 1988.
2. The Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1987[3] shall be further amended by replacing in Part V the listed fees set out in column 1 of the Table below by those set out in column 2 of that Table.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)These Regulations amend the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1987 to increase the fees payable in connection with the registration of ships by approximately 5½%.
