The Salmon (Weekly Close Time) (Scotland) Regulations 1988

    The Secretary of State, having consulted such persons as he considers appropriate, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3(3) of the Salmon Act 1986[1]and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Salmon (Weekly Close Time) (Scotland) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 6th May 1988.
        2.    Section 13 of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951[2](extent of the weekly close time and the period within which rod and line fishing is permitted) shall be amended by substituting for sub-sections (2) and (3) thereof the following sub-sections:—
      "  (2)  No person shall fish for or take salmon (except during Friday, Saturday or Monday by rod and line) during the weekly close time.

          (3)  The weekly close time shall extend from the hour of six in the evening on Friday to the hour of six on the following Monday morning.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations, which amend section 13 of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951, increase the weekly close time for fishing for salmon in Scotland to 60 hours, from 6 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on the following Monday.
