The Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcast Licence Charges and Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 1988

    In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949[1], as enacted, and as extended by the Wireless Telegraphy (Channel Islands) Order 1952[2] and the Wireless Telegraphy (Isle of Man) Order 1952[3], and now vested in me[4], I hereby, with the consent of the Treasury, make the following Regulations:
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcast Licence Charges and Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.

        (2)  The Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcast Licence Charges and Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 1985[5] are hereby revoked.
        2.    Schedules 3 and 4 to the Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcast Licence Charges and Exemption) Regulations 1984[6] shall be amended as follows—
       (a) for "£18" in each place where it occurs there shall be substituted "£21"; and
       (b) for "£58" in each place where it occurs there shall be substituted "£62.50"[7].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations raise the amount of the basic fee for television licences from £18 to £21 in the case of monochrome and from £58 to £62.50 in the case of colour.
