The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by sections 2, 17 and 21 of the Extradition Act 1870[1] and section 5(1) of the Taking of Hostages Act 1982[2], or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Extradition (Taking of Hostages) (Amendment) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 1st January 1988.
        2.    The Extradition (Taking of Hostages) Order 1985[3] shall be amended by adding to Schedule 2 (which names the foreign States with which the United Kingdom has extradition treaties in force and which are parties to the International Convention against the Taking of Hostages opened for signature at New York on 18th December 1979[4]) the following entry—

        3.    The Extradition (Taking of Hostages) Order 1985 shall be amended by adding to Part I of Schedule 3 (which names the foreign States with which the United Kingdom has no extradition treaties in force and which are parties to the International Convention against the Taking of Hostages opened for signature at New York on 18th December 1979) the following entries—

    Japan8th July 1987
    Senegal9th April 1987
    Togo24th August 1986

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Extradition (Taking of Hostages) Order 1985 by adding to Schedule 2 (which names the foreign states with which the United Kingdom has extradition treaties in force and which are parties to the International Convention against the Taking of Hostages opened for signature at New York on 18th December 1979) an entry for Austria, and by adding to Part I of Schedule 3 (which names the foreign states with which the United Kingdom has no extradition treaties in force and which are parties to the Convention) entries for Japan, Senegal and Togo.
