The Counsellors of State in Council
Whereas Her Majesty in pursuance of the Regency Acts 1937 to 1953, was pleased, by Letters Patent dated the 17th day of September 1987, to delegate to the six Counsellors of State therein named or any two or more of them full power and authority during the period of Her Majesty's absence from the United Kingdom to summon and hold on Her Majesty's behalf Her Privy Council and to signify thereat Her Majesty's approval for anything for which Her Majesty's approval in Council is required: And whereas this Order is made only for purposes corresponding to those of the AIDS (Control) Act 1987 c. 331987: Now, therefore, His Royal Highness The Prince Andrew Duke of York and Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, being authorised thereto by the said Letters Patent, and in pursuance of the powers conferred by paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974 c. 281974 (as modified by section 2 of that Act of 1987) and all other powers enabling Her Majesty, and by and with the advice of Her Majesty's Privy Council, do on Her Majesty's behalf order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: Title and commencement 1.(1) This Order may be cited as the AIDS (Control) (Northern Ireland) Order 1987.
(2) This Order shall come into operation on the expiration of one month from the day on which it is made.
Interpretation 2.(1) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 c. 33 (N.I.) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
(2) In this Order
"AIDS" means Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome;
"Board" means a Health and Social Services Board;
"the Department" means the Department of Health and Social Services;
"HIV" means Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Periodical reports on matters relating to AIDS and HIV
3.(1) Reports shall be made in accordance with this Article to the Department by each Board.
(2) The reports
(a) shall contain the information specified in the Schedule and such other relevant information as the Department may direct; and (b) shall be published by the Board by which they are made.
(3) The reports shall be in such form and shall be made at such times or intervals and relate to such periods as the Department may direct, but those periods shall not be more than twelve months and the first reports shall be made and published not later than the end of 1988.
(4) The Department may, by order subject to negative resolution, amend the Schedule either by altering or deleting any of the matters for the time being specified in it or by specifying additional relevant information.
(5) Directions under paragraph (3) may require reports in respect of periods falling wholly or partly before the commencement of this Order.
(6) In this Article "relevant information" means information relating to, or to any matter connected with, AIDS or HIV.
