The London Pilotage (Amendment) Order 1987

    The Secretary of State for Transport, on the application of the Corporation of the Trinity House of Deptford Strond (being persons interested in the pilotage of the London Pilotage District) and in exercise of powers conferred by section 9 of the Pilotage Act 1983[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the London Pilotage (Amendment) Order 1987, and shall come into force on 31st July 1987.
        2.    Article 5 of the London Pilotage Order set out in the Schedule to the Pilotage Order (London) Confirmation Act 1913[2] shall be deleted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order further amends the London Pilotage Order by removing the prohibition on the licensing of qualified pilots to conduct ships in areas both above and below Gravesend.
    The Order is made in consequence of an application by Trinity House as pilotage authority for the London Pilotage District. Objections to the application made in accordance with the Pilotage Orders (Applications) Regulations 1980 (S.I. 1980/1163) have been withdrawn.
