The Education (Grant) (Amendment) Regulations 1987

    The Secretary of State for Education and Science, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 100(1) and (3) of the Education Act 1944[1] and vested in him[2], hereby makes the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grant) (Amendment) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 31st July 1987.
        2.    In regulation 10(a) of the Education (Grant) Regulations 1983[3] ("the principal Regulations"), there shall be added after the word "profit" the words "except Cranfield Information Technology Institute".
        3.    In regulation 11 of the principal Regulations, there shall be added-
       (a) in sub-paragraph (a) after the word "establishments" the following words
      "or, in the case of Cranfield Information Technology Institute, the persons responsible for the management thereof",
         (b) in sub-paragraph (b) after the words "governing bodies" the words "or persons".

        4.    To the list of establishments mentioned in Schedule 4 to the principal Regulations there shall be added "Cranfield Information Technology Institute".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Education (Grant) Regulations 1983 by including Cranfield Information Technology Institute as an establishment eligible for grant under those Regulations (regulations 2 and 3).
    The Institute is added to those establishments listed in Schedule 4 to the 1983 Regulations to which the conditions as to the payment of grant prescribed in regulation 16 and the provisions for inspection in regulation 24 do not apply (regulation 4). Under regulation 16(6) of the 1983 Regulations the payment of grant to establishments mentioned in Schedule 4 is conditional on such requirements as may be specified by the Secretary of State being satisfied (regulation 4).
