The Rent (Relief from Phasing) Order 1987

Coming into force4th May 1987

    The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 60(5) and (7) and 151(3) of the Housing Act 1980[1], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before, and has been approved by resolution of, each House of Parliament:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Rent (Relief from Phasing) Order 1987 and shall come into force on the expiry of the period of ten weeks beginning with the day on which this Order is made.
        2.—(1)  The following provisions of the Rent Act 1977[2] are repealed—
       (a) section 55;
       (b) Schedule 8, in so far as it relates to section 55.

        (2)  The following provisions of the Rent (Agriculture) Act 1976[3] are repealed—
       (a) section 15;
       (b) Schedule 6.

        (3)  The consequential amendments to the Rent Act 1977 specified in Schedule 1 to this Order are made.
        3.    The repeals and amendments made by this Order do not have effect in the circumstances and to the extent specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.
